Blah. Bubbles.

Blah. That's how I'm feeling people. I'm more than a little ready to have my multiple projects come to an end. I actually took a bunch of quick pics before I left for work the other morning of the completed curtains in our bedroom, but when I uploaded them and even edited them, the lighting and angles were super crappy. So I simply cannot post those pictures because I worked too dang hard on those suckers for crappy looking photos of them!  So, I decided I would share something a bit random with you today instead.

The hubs and I were doing our laundry (which we must do at the laundromat) and decided we wanted to make a quick run to CVS down the road while waiting on the washer.  In the same shopping center is this little Smoothie shop (Asian inspired).  I had always wanted to try it, and when we saw a sign for Bubble Tea, we were intrigued enough to meander inside.

We had to ask the guy for a break down of what Bubble tea is.

It's a tea and milk based smoothie basically. It can be fruity or milk based. I choose Coffee flavor.

He made the smoothie, and vacuumed sealed the cup to make the lid.

It had tapioca thingy's on the bottom.  (The Bubbles)

You poke a really fat straw through the vacuum sealed top. The straw is big enough for you to suck up the "Bubbles"

Here is one of the tapioca bubbles. We were laughing the whole time as we ate/drank them! As you're drinking your frozen cofeeish drink, you all the sudden suck up a "bubble" and have to chew it! It was a slightly hilarious and strange sensation.
(I didn't have my camera with me, ya know, didn't think anything this exciting would happen while doing laundry, so these pics are off my "dumb", not smart phone)

Ok so tonight, I will re-take the curtain pictures.  Stay tuned!

Has anyone else every experienced the wonders of Bubble Tea?

Too Many Projects

I'm alive. It seems I'm even busier now than I was during the holidays! I just can't seem to find the time to get everything that needs to be done, done! I have been working on a couple of projects all at once. Maybe that was my first mistake, but let me just say, it seems every project I've been working on have been full of mistakes.  Once they are all completed, I will break them down for you one by one.

Here are a few pictures of some of what I've been working on but there are a few more projects in the mix as well.

Every project I've done, I've had a little terror helper along the way.  Here, take notice of my once white but now blue cat.  He thinks each project is actually just a play fort for him.

Case in point.

Amidst the projects, I've also been moving furniture, rearranging accessories, and trying to overhaul organize everything.  And work 40 hours a week. Why do I do this to myself?

That is why I've been a bit absent in blog world. But once things start to wrap up, I hope to soon bombard you with posts!

Please bear with me!

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

Hello all! Sorry I've been MIA for a week. I've been busy working on a few projects. Here is one of them!

I got this mirror at Good Will for $3.95! I spotted it and asked if they could hold it behind the counter while I shopped, and they said they couldn't, so I carried it around the store with me. Ha! This little baby was mine! (Sorry for the disaster zone in the reflection. We were a hot mess that day)

Loved the top of it!

I cleaned her up then tapped it off with Frog Tape

Then started painting it a tealish turquoise blue.

Here is the color I used. It's Underwater Wonders by Disney.

After the first coat

And here it is in our bedroom! This is a pretty accurate picture of what the color really looks like. It ended up being a bit more turquoise than I thought it would, but I still like it. I might distress it a little to show more of the pretty detail.

We are slowly phasing out the red. I'm on the hunt for material to make curtains and I'm going to paint a couple of other things that were red, but I think it will look good when it's all finished. Trying to do it all on the cheap! I'd say this one was a pretty successful cheap DIY.

Does anyone know of a way for me to re-use those red lamp shades? I would like to make them grey or white. I've looked online and have seen people that cover them with fabric, or paint them but my only worry is that the red will show through.

Ballard Design, You've Caught My Eye!

I have loved the Ballard Design catalog for as long as it's been coming to my house.  My mom and I would oohh and aaahh over it each time a new one found it's way to our mailbox. We would gather design ideas and even on occasion, purchase a small accessory here and there.  Last Christmas my mom bought me this adorable tote bag, that I have used as a purse, and as a beach bag or gym bag.

All of the pictures are from the Ballard Design Website.

Mine is the brown one, but it has a crown on it! Love it!

One of the first things I did when I got married and moved away form home was sign up for their catalog to come to me! I love looking through it for design ideas, and I pretty much adore everything in there, from fabric to furniture. I'm also a member of their Facebook page where I get updates on new stuff and discount codes. Here is a look at some of their new stuff for 2012 that I drool over!

Love this wall mirror art! So clever to put in a space that needs a little something extra! The rug is pretty awesome too.

Sun burst sun burst sun burst! Love all of the different kinds of sunburst mirrors and all the different textures.  These things are really coming back!

I think it's a really cool idea to hang pictures and pieces like these sunburst mirrors on shelving. It makes it a bit more interesting and not so boring. I have always loved the mirror sitting in the corner too.  Isn't the shape great!?

Love the turquoise light fixtures! What a cool little space to hang out in! The dog seems to be enjoying it.

Just thought I'd share that with you. Some fun stuff to bring in the New Year.  And in other news, I found some really great stuff at GoodWill on Saturday! (Which is rare, because our GW never seems to have anything good)  As the workers were bringing it out from the back, I told the girl to put a sold sticker on it. Ha! It's for our bedroom, some furniture that's been lacking since we got married! I'm working on fixin' it all up and I will be sure to show you plenty of before and afters as soon as it's all done! I can't wait for it to be finished!

Sophisticated Sisters

When we were home for the holiday's, I was shocked and happily surprised to find that my sister's bedroom was transformed into a classy and sophisticated pad.  They decided they wanted a more "grown-up" look, rather than the girly, fun room they've had for some time. Before, they had a bright greenish Tiffany blue color on the walls that was very bold and vibrant. They also had paisley wall decals and lime green curtains, along with bright bedding.

Here are some of the before pics. Lime's Blue's pinks. Pretty fun and bright.

Here are the after pictures. They painted the walls a silvery greyish blue. (Notice the lovely accessory on the bed licking himself)

This was an old picture my mom had that got ruined in the flood this past fall, so they took out the picture, and painted the frame black. Then bought a chandelier decal and put in on the front of the glass. Clever huh?

An old frame painted black with an "M" for my sister Mackenzie.

The desk was already white, they just added cute accessories and painted the mirror silver. Love!

This is Mackenzie's desk.

Mercury glass candle holder.

Bedside storage. (The Ugg boots complete the look :)

This is Megan's desk area. They painted the desk black.

The curtains were originally in my mom's bedroom, but she moved them over into the girl's room because they fit so well and help to pull the room together. They were purchased at Walmart!

Cute little damask lamps

Since this room only has one little closet, they purchased this armor a while back, and Megan uses it as her closet and dresser.

This lamp had some crazy colored shades before, which they simply switched out to all white, to go with the new look.

Mackenzie's side of the room. Complete with new bedding and textured pillows.

They want to add more to the wall, but are still looking for the perfect find.

This little bedside table was lime green before I believe with funky stickers.  Now it's a sophisticated silver.

I just love this. Had to show it again.

They also painted the old lamp they had silver.

Now it's complete!

Hat's off to my mom and sisters! This is an incredible room make over in which they re-used what they already had, by simply giving things a fresh coat of paint and adding some new bedding and accessories. Awesome!
