A Hodge Podge Post

Hello errrrbody. Sorry for my blogging absence. I've been cray cray busy at work and I haven't had the energy to come home and create new things and blog about them. Sorreeee. Anyways, I wanted to give you a few tid bits of fun info.

Numero uno. We have a new little member of our family. Her name is Eva Glock Daly and we adopted her from the pound last weekend.

It's fitting that her middle name is Glock, because she is quite a little pistol!

Her brother Wally (Wallace Magnum) was very bored and needed a sister to fight play with.

And if your wondering, yes they are named after the Disney Pixar movie, Walle
And yes, both of their middle names are guns. (My husband's doing)

Numero dos. I got bangs.

3. I am working on a project that could potentially be a fail, but I will share more with you when it's done.

And 4, I have more fun printables to share with you!
Bless this girl's soul. She made these adorable FREE printable's for EVERY state!

These are my important states, but you can find your state(s)  here at her blog, The Vintage Lemon.  Thank you Vintage Lemon!

Virginia is for Lovers, Hate somewhere else. (I have a T-shirt that says that :)

She even made these cute little hearts to place on the part of the state your from! How adorbs!

What day is it?

Hey peeps! So, I don't know about you, but the new year always makes me want a new calender, even if I just bought one in November (I really did). I wanted bigger monthly calenders for my desk at work, so I could schedule appointments, and to just keep track of life! We all need one right! Or two, or three...
Anywho, you all know how I love the free printables that I usually find on Pintrest. Well I decided just to google free printable calenders to see what I could come up with so I wouldn't have to buy anymore calenders! I specifically searched for "chevron" calenders, since I clearly have a slight chevron obsession. ~You could never tell from my blog or anything~. I wanted to find a free pretty calender. I was so tickled with what I found, I wanted to share it with you!

This is the first "at a glance calender" I found. It's an Ikat design which is too cool.
It's from RedStamp, and they have a bunch of other really cool ones to pick from! All FREE!
Find it here along with others.

Here it is on my desk at work! I just love love love it! I may even find a cute frame for it to keep on my desk.

Here are the monthly calenders I found. They are from 505 design and papeire.
Get yours here

Here are mine. Oohhh they make me happy!!! And they were oh so FREE!

Here's another version of chevron calenders from 505 design and paperie.
Find these "presh" monthly calenders here

Even if these aren't your style, if you just search Google, your probably sure to find one that suits your fancy!

So has anyone found any free printalbes that you were just giddy about?

Jesus Picture Frame

Hi friends! Did you enjoy the weekend? Well, I've been procrastinating this project FOREVER! I found this really cool frame at GW when my sister came to visit us, back in October.  I immediately knew I wanted to put one of our wedding pictures in it. I thought it was so cool and different. Not something you could just go buy at Target.  My sister couldn't believe I was buying it. We both laughed about it while paying for it at the counter in GW.

I put it in the trunk of my car and had it in there for months! Well, since October. I felt like He was keeping me safe as I was driving!
It costs me $7.95. Maybe a little much for an old chipped picture, but I really liked it, and knew it had potential.

It was freeeezing outside when I finally decided to tackle this project. I had bought blue spray paint for this, but I didn't want to go outside. The wind was blowing 39mph! So I used the acrylic paint that I used for my painting a few days back to just "hand paint" instead of spray paint. The color of the acrylic paint was Azure Blue.

I let it dry overnight and gave it a second coat, just to make sure I got all the nooks and crannies.

The acrylic paint dried really flat and matted looking which I knew would. So when it wasn't so windy and cold, I then spray painted it with a clear glaze to seal it and to give it a shiny glossy finished look.

This is after the glaze letting it dry on the porch.

I popped off the back using a screwdriver to pull back the staples

And took out the portrait of Jesus

I used the portrait to trace an 8x10 wedding photo of ours that would go into the frame.

A perfect fit!

Then for support and stability, I put the picture of Jesus behind our photo. He is always watching over us! :)

The finished product!!

I haven't hung it on the wall yet, because I'm not sure where I'm going to put it, but it will have a home soon!

Think you might like something like this in your home? Be sure to stay posted for a chance to win some of my D.I.Y. designs!

Going Out Chic

Hello to all! I just wanted to share with you a little something special. My blog has been featured on a fashion and style site called Going Out Chic.  She featured my paint chip artwork project so check it out here on her site. We are going to be collaborating together and I will be posting hopefully weekly on the site featuring D.I.Y. projects. Since I'm running out of room in my house for my D.I.Y. projects, my goal is to give the first few projects away to some of you diligent readers out there, and then start my own ESTY shop and sell some of these featured items.  Be sure to check out Going Out Chic today! She gives great fashion tips and helps lay out full outfits for you depending on the occasion. You can even post pictures of your outfit on the site and ask for tips! How cool is that?

Keep it Classy People

Hey everyone! Hope your all having a great week! Only a few more days till we hit the weekend! I wanted to share with you something "presh" that I found on Pintrest, and liked it enough to frame it!

I found this "Keep Calm" poster on Pintrest and LOVED it!

I found a textured stick looking frame at T.J. Maxx to fit an 8x10
(I will be writing a "texture" post in the near future)

I got the picture printed at Walmart at the insta-print kiosk.  Love that thing!

And gave it a new home in the kitchen. Thought it was gonna go in the bathroom, but it made it's way into the kitchen.

This is what that corner looked like before. A little clogged up, and ate up counter space. Why did I live like this for 7 months?

I moved that cool dollar store lamp over to the other side of the sink. I think it's nice to have a little light in the kitchen, other than harsh overheads.

So anywho, just wanted to share that with ya! Got to love me some Pintrest!!! Free Printables galore!

Sweet Little Things

Happy Valentines Day everyone! Whether you love it, or hate it, I wish you a happy, loving day.  Thought I'd share with you an easy peasy little project I did, that took like 5 minutes to complete.

Some special little things for my new bedside table.

I picked up this little shadow frame (guess that's what it's called) at T.J. Maxx.  I didn't just want to stick another wedding picture in there, so I used some powder blue chevron paper that I found as a free printable from Pintrest, and cut it to size.

I made a little white bow out of ribbon, and tied the ring my hubby gave to me when, I think we were 17 years old. It has a little diamond in it and was our "Promise Ring". I called it my starter diamond. Lol.
Then I just glued the ribbon to the paper.

The ring is too big for me right now, so I couldn't wear it anyways but I wanted to display it and be reminded of how much it means to me.

Oh, and check out those awesome flowers! I found them at T.J Maxx as well and thought they would add some fun color and texture to the "blue lagoon". Guess that's the new theme name for our bedroom.

An easy little project, but it just may be one of my favorite parts of the room!

So what your your plans for Valentines?

This is what I woke up to this morning!  Am I a lucky girl or what!?

Painting for beginners

Hey! Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was very busy. But I managed to sneak in a few projects! So not too long ago, I showed you my paint chip artwork.  When I picked up that canvas at Micheals, they were having a 50% off canvas sale, so I bought a third canvas.  I was originally thinking of doing more paint chip artwork on that third canvas, but when I thought about it, I thought it would be too geometric. I'm trying to force myself outside of my "design comfort zone".  That meant, I needed to do something different.  Ergo, I painted the canvas. Yep, you read it.  I, painted.  Even though I'm the daughter of a former art teacher and sister to an amazing artist, I can barely draw stick figures let alone paint. But after some tips from a pro, I attempted a painting.  Probably the easiest paint job ever, but still I was nervous. You be the judge.

I bought acrylic paint at Walmart in 3 different teals/blues

I mixed a little bit of water in with the paint to give it more of a washed look
(Notice the paper plate??)

Started with the darkest blue first

Then added more of an aqua color next

You can't tell here, but I added a light blue color to the bottom.

Here it is, up on the wall with the geometric artwork.

Think it's a softer element that adds some depth and texture.

I'm happy with it. Being that I'm no painter!

Oh and this little cutie was a free printable I found from Pintrest. I will try and find the link, but I just got it printed out and framed it. Thought it was presh.

So, have any of you been doing some fun design projects lately? If so, fill me in!
