Paint and Placing

This is another before and after project I had in mind. I had really wanted a mantel as a floating shelf in my entryway, right when you walk in the door. I didn't know where I was going to get my hands on a mantle! I came across this picture and wanted something similar.

I love how you could change it with the seasons like in this picture! Ready for fall!

I knew I could probably find one if I spent all my time devoted to thrift shopping, but I had many other things on my plate at the time. So I decided to get creative and come up with something similar!

I came across these curtain rod decorative holders in the attic of my husband's aunts house! What a blessing his aunt and uncle were, letting us go through and pick anything we wanted!

I thought these were perfect! Just a fresh coat of black paint was needed.

She also gave a few of these guys which I loved as well and knew I could find a home for!

And with a shelf that I had registered for, my father-in-law installed the shelf and the curtain rod holders to make it look like a mantle! And there is the little bust that I painted white and of course my dollar store sunburst mirror! Now this is the first thing we see when walking in the front door!

What do you think?

Dresser

Here is another project we did a few months ago. Another gift form my husband's aunt! We needed another dresser and when she offered this up to us, I knew what we would do with it! Here are some before pictures. All it needed was a little black paint, new hardware, and some love.

Took these pictures off my ipod, so they're not the best quality.

And here is the after! Sorry for the clutter around it, this was taken while we were still moving in. I love it!

It's been awhile

Well, it's been awhile since my last post. Getting married and looking for a job sort of took up some of my time. But I've been eager to post these before and after pictures of projects that I've been working on for a few months. Here are two projects.

This is a mirror that my husband's aunt gave us, along with many other things. I thought I saw some cool potential in this. I thought it would be great with a fresh coat of paint and would be neat in our bathroom. It has drawers for extra storage, which we certainly need!

And here it is completed! Spray painted green and the handles black.

Something old...Something new...

Two outfits, same essential items. You can go from day to night with a great pair of jeans and a white tee. The right accessories will take you right there! Here is my interpretation that you can do too!

Day Time Look

You need a pop of color to proclaim it's spring! I'm so into over the shoulder bags and purses for convenience, and an easy day-time look. I found this at JC Penny and if I remember correctly, I think I got it for free with a $10 coupon! Don't be afraid to mix gold and silver in the same outfit!

I just found these little beauties in a gift shop at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. I love the melon green and how they dress up an outfit. I would pick studs over dangley earrings any day!

A white tee from Forever 21 for about $4 bucks and a black scarf make a spring or summer outfit look easy and relaxed.

This was a steal! Literally! I got this at a secret Santa in college last year, and we played dirty Santa! I stole this little guy maybe 2 or 3 times until it was mine! It's from J-Crew and I think it cost around $12.

My search is over! I finally found the jeans I was in search of! I wanted a flour-de-lis on the back pockets of some perfectly faded jeans that could cuff into cute high waters or worn long with heels.

And to complement the beautifully studded jeans, a cute pair of black studded flip flops for spring and summer. A good pair of black flips flops are essential to have since they generally don't show dirt, and go with anything. I love these because they add a little spice to the original black flip flop and the best part, they were a Wal-Mart steal for under $10 bucks! They complete this outfit!

Into the Night!

Love this little black clutch! Got it for Christmas a few years ago from my soon-to-be sister-in-law. I use it every time I go out for a fun night out or when I don't want a bulky purse and want something a little more simple and chic. You can't go wrong with a simple black clutch.

This little black belt with studs and a bow add a feminine yet tough touch to this outfit. Slip it through the belt loops for a sassy little touch to the outfit. A Forever 21 find, for under $10 that I love to wear with a cropped winter jacket.

Pair a funky statement necklace with a simple white tee and you'll be sure to get noticed. This has been a trend for quite some time, but I don't see it dying anytime soon! I found this lovely black necklace at JC Penny's. I personally think if you are looking for statement jewelry, check JC Penny's first. They are always having sales and have some really fun things! With a necklace like this, be sure to go VERY simple on the earrings.

Ah! These don't need a lot of explaining. Patent Jessica Simpson pumps with a wood base add style and texture. I like the base with this outfit, since it adds a little unexpected twist. Don't be afraid to mix textures and colors to avoid the whole matchy matchy thing. I'm not a fan of matchy matchy!

Now go scourer for some hidden treasures in your own closet and pair them up with simple tees and funky jeans and make a statement for spring and summer without spending a lot $$$!

At the end of the road there is an open door...

I have been wanting to do this for some time now. I have been obsessing over certain blogs for months now and have desperately been wanting one of my very own. I promised myself I wouldn't until one important thing was over with, and then I'd let loose. A little push from some VIP'S in my life helped too. Well that thing is over and I'm ready to take the plunge! Bare with me as I learn and maneuver my way around in blog world!
